Air Scrubbers are a very necessary part of many renovation and restoration job sites. When dealing with Category 2 or Category 3 contaminated water an Air Scrubber should be considered mandatory. Quite often contractors will complain that insurance adjusters refuse to pay the rental fees for running this equipment. The fact is that in most cases the contractor does not educate or explain the reasons to the adjuster why this equipment is necessary. It is important to remember that the safety of the inhabitants of the home or commercial building far supersedes the lack of education or understanding of of an adjuster as to why this equipment is necessary. Another question that should always be addressed during a water loss is weather there is the potential for lead or asbestos in the scope of the project. Are there any very young, elderly or immune compromised individuals living or working within the structure? Again, their may be multiple reasons to explain the justification for the use of an Air Scrubber….or multiple Air Scrubbers.
What about a Fire, Smoke Damage or Mold Project? The use of multiple Air Scrubbers during these types are not only standard protocol but when used in conjunction with activated charcoal filters can be an outstanding tool for removing soot and smoke damage odors quickly and effectively. Air Scrubbers come in a variety of sizes and styles.
Remember, it is important to know the cubic feet of air space to be treated. A minimum of three air changes per hour is required for effective treatment.
